Well played, Matt Barkley. That’s really cool, considering Mel Kiper Jr. had him projected as a No. 6 draft pick. Barkley even admitted he was ready for the NFL. But the “unfinished business” stood out too much, and I don’t blame him.
A Heisman, title and college degree are all pretty awesome goals. I’ve never been a USC fan (Arizona fan, so it’s nature), and Lane Kiffin — don’t even get me started. However, I gotta hand it to Barkley. The reaction to his decision was very similar to Peyton Manning’s speech his junior year at UT.
